Obverse Design
|
Similar to a Kelsey Type 1 design: two rectangles are side by side,
not quite centered in the chit. The left
rectangle is about 31.5 mm wide, and the right rectangle is about 11.5 mm wide.
The rectangles are about 22 mm high. In the left rectangle at the top is box
with the legend "OFFICER'S CLUB". The line under the box says "FORT AMADOR" in
a little larger font size. The next line back in the orignal font size
says "CANAL ZONE". On the bottom left under these lines with small
letters in three lines it says "NOT GOOD", "IF", "DETACHED".
On the bottom right is the serial number in large bold print;
"1766" in the example above.
The right rectangle has twelve hash marks at the top and another twelve at the
bottom. It has a large "5" filling up most of the rectangle. Underneath the
denomination it says "CENTS".
