Obverse Design The legend "EL CANAL" curves along the top. In the center is a large "5". The legend "CENTS" curves along immediately under the "5". The legend "RONCALLO Y CA" curves along the bottom. All these legends use incuse lettering. Near the edge is a circle of dashes, also incuse. The token has a smooth edge without a rim.
Reverse Design Has an off-center incuse radiant sunburst counterstamp with twelve rays. It has a smooth edge without a rim.
Metal White metal, perhaps copper-nickel or silver alloy. Weight 2.9 grams. Size and Shape Round, 20 mm in diameter.
Dates Issued Unknown; most likely sometime between 1885 and 1903.
